Ghent Coal Combustion Residuals Transport Project - Ghent, Ky.
The team of TIC, Kiewit Engineering & Design Co. (formerly known as Kiewit Power Engineers), Kiewit Infrastructure and T.E. Ibberson was awarded an EPC contract to design and install the Ghent Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) Transport project. Work began December 2011 and ended December 2014 — the completed project conditions/dewaters and transports CCR from the four coal-fired boilers to a remote landfill storage. Project scope included the installation of a pneumatic system for conveying fly ash, including fly ash storage silos, a gypsum dewatering facility, and a bottom ash dewatering facility. The ash-handling project also incorporated a 1.8-mile overland pipe conveyor for transporting the dewatered CCR materials to a landfill.
